Rent The Runway

Happy Monday! I hope you all enjoyed a fabulous weekend. I am always happy to have a weekend full of family and friends, but I still get excited to go back to work. As I was reading one of my favorite blogs this morning, 100 Layer Cake, a particular photo shoot really caught my attention. It was an engagement shoot that had just the right amount of sweet and sultry. I have to say that the clothing and accessories had a huge part in portraying that. As I went through to the end of the post to see where she got her stunning dresses, I saw that they were all from Rent the Runway. It made complete and total sense why I loved what she was wearing! I have never actually used Rent the Runway, but I’ve known several people who have. If you are not familiar with RTR, then it’s pretty simple. Here’s how it works…
*You sign up (it’s free), and browse the website. They have dresses and jewelry from so many wonderful designers. You can get the dress, jewelry, handbag, and even Spanx!
*You select the date you want your dress to arrive. They offer next day shipping. You are able to keep the merchandise for either 4 or 8 days.
*When you are done, just stick the dress back in the bag they provide and stick it in your mailbox.
*They offer stylist tips and advice to make sure you find the perfect fit for your body type.
*RTR sends 2 sizes in the dress that you order to make sure at least one of the dresses will work. You may even have a friend that can wear the other size, so maybe you can split the rental.
*RTR guarantees that the dress will fit. If for some reason it doesn’t they will issue a full merchandise credit.

My mind is spinning with all the ways that Brides can use RTR for pre-wedding festivities.
*Engagement shoots
*Bridal showers
*Bachelorette parties
*Rehearsal dinner
*After the wedding and reception

Here are some of the pictures from the shoot featured on 100 Layer Cake

It was about a year ago when I got a Nordstrom catalogue in the mail. Like most catalogues, I usually flip through when I have the time only stopping if something truly show stopping catches my eye. Now I must preface this by saying I have a serious love for watches. I get this from my dad. He has quite the collection of old vintage pocket watches as well as wrist watches. He gave me my first “big girl watch” when I graduated high school and I was in love.

So as I was mindlessly flipping through the pictures of the seasons hottest trends and so on, I saw a page of watches that had me at first sight.

I forgot to mention that I am slightly obsessed with rose gold. These watches are so great for any season. They are very girly, yet masculine because of the size. I literally get compliments on mine all the time. The band is acrylic and rose gold with a rose gold and diamond bezel.

Here are some others I love…

A good watch is a great gift and a great investment. They also make great bridesmaid’s gifts depending on your budget. Not only does Michael Kors have great watches, but he has so many other great types of jewelry, clothes, handbags, and shoes.

Birds of a feather flock together

When I was little, my mom always warned me against touching stray feathers because of the possible diseases birds carry. That caution towards feathers has remained in me to this day. So now that feathers are all the rage, I’m slowly warming up to the idea. Not only are they rapidly popping up in jewelry and clothing, but in hair extensions too. The feather hair extensions are made of rooster feathers. They happen to be the most durable and flexible.

They range in length from 4-12 inches

They can last 1-4 months depending on how you care for them

Price is $30+

You can wash and style just like you would your own hair

So why feathers? There seems to be a fascination with savage beauty. It’s very organic and earthy, but with a little flair. Some designers even started incorporating the use of feathers as an homage to the late Alexander McQueen and his latest collection. No matter why it started, the trend is here and shows no signs of leaving us any time soon. Here are some of the latest feather trends in the wedding world…

When it comes to jewelry, my style is somewhat simple and classic. I like to collect pieces that I can wear everyday with virtually any outfit. I look at jewelry as an investment. It’s a statement that shows others a little bit about who you are. I do think it’s important to find your jewelry identity and what works for you.

I was reading my InStyle magazine, the August 2011 issue, and I came across some earrings that I absolutely love! The issue featured Katie Holmes on the cover and for their feature interview. She’s wearing Colette diamond and 18kt black and gold earrings.
