I’m pretty much a gloss and Aquaphor girl when it comes to lips. If you searched through my purse, chances are, you wouldn’t find a tube of lipstick.
I saw the movie, Something Borrowed a few months ago and there was a scene, rather a look that has been stuck in my head since. It was Ginnifer Goodwin and she had on the most incredible lip stain. The look is so innocent, fresh, and clean that I was dying to try it out.
There are some perfectly good lip stains out there, but they do just that, stain. So here’s how I do it. If you have a tube of lipstick you are good to go.
Make sure to exfoliate your lips. I like to do a sugar scrub.
Take a wash cloth and a little bit of sugar and gently scrub your lips.
You can rinse or lick off.
Get a piece of tissue and dot a little lipstick onto the tissue.
Use a lip brush or finger to apply to your lips. Apply in small circular motions.
Keep adding small amounts until you get the color and depth you want.
The color should stay put for a good length of time. The color didn’t come off when I ate or drank either.
If you want the matted look, leave as is. Your lips might feel a little dry, but with the exfoliation they should look smooth.
If you want a glossier finish, top with a clear gloss or a touch of balm.
